Transforming an Unusable Sloped Garden in Hythe with Ground Screws
When our client in Hythe approached us, they were faced with a frustrating problem a steep, sloping garden that offered very little usable space. It was an area that had long been written off, despite its potential and the stunning views it could offer if properly utilised.
We were asked to transform the space into something practical, level, and usable without the mess, disruption, or waste that often comes with traditional digging and concrete methods.
The Project
Over the course of just two days, with a two-man team on site, we completely reimagined the space:
-
Ground screw installation – The first step was installing ground screws to create a solid, level base without the need for excavation or spoil removal. This instantly overcame the challenges of the sloping ground.
-
Frame and deck build – With a firm foundation in place, we built a robust timber frame and decked over the entire area, giving the clients a generous new platform that made the whole garden accessible.
-
Fencing retained – Where possible, we reused the original fencing to help retain the newly levelled space. This not only reduced waste but also helped the final result blend into its surroundings.
The Result
The transformation was immediate. What had once been a neglected, uneven area of garden was now a striking, level decked space that could be enjoyed all year round. The clients were delighted to finally be able to make use of their whole garden and with an elevated position, the deck now provides a lovely view across Hythe.
This project is a great example of how ground screws can unlock the potential of even the most awkward or overlooked outdoor spaces, quickly and efficiently.
